Be Our Guest Restaurant in Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World

Our next post is not ice cream related but we wanted to write about  a restaurant we tried during our recent trip to Walt Disney World.  Be Our Guest Restaurant, located in Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom, is one of Disney’s most popular restaurant. It is also one of the toughest Disney dining reservation to get. Chloe is a huge Beauty & The Beast fan and really wanted to try this place, so with only 3 weeks of planning our Disney World trip we (mom) literally checked the My Disney Experience app everyday to try to get a reservation.  And at last, a week before our trip we were able to snag a coveted early breakfast reservation and couple of days later, were lucky enough to change it to lunch for the day we were scheduled to go to Magic Kingdom.

It was our first family trip to Disney World,  Be Our Guest was our first WDW dining experience. We had an 11:30 am lunch reservation and arrived 10 minutes early to check in. Even though we had reservations, we still had to queued up to go inside the castle and waited about 15-20 minutes to order our food in a kiosk.  They have an option of pre-ordering your food  in advance which we forgot to do but highly recommend it to avoid waiting online. The whole ordering process was little chaotic since the kiosk we picked was problematic. It was a good thing they had a cast member readily available to help you out. Once we placed our order we were given a plastic red rose to be placed on our table so the food can find us, then we were sent inside the dining room to search for a table that can accommodate us.

The restaurant has three separate dining rooms; the Elegant ballroom, the West Wing of the Beast Castle and the Rose Gallery. All three are stunning and impressive. We wanted to sit in the West Wing since it has the view of the falling petals from the enchanted rose and lightning that changes beast portrait but couldn’t find a table, also the room was little too dark for us. We ended up finding a table in the main ballroom, we loved the high ceiling and view of the snow falling outside. Our food arrived about 10 minutes after we sat down. Caleb got the slow cooked pork from the kids menu while Chloe had the whole grain macaroni kids meal. Mommy got the Croque Monsieur with the potato leek soup and daddy got the braised pork. We also ordered  the Master’s cupcakes for dessert. Overall the food was just ok. Chloe’s whole grain macaroni dish was literally a bowl of macaroni with a side of marinara sauce and shredded cheese. She enjoyed it though because she loves pasta and cheese. Mommy’s Croque Monsieur tasted more like a plain grilled cheese with ham. Daddy and Caleb’s dishes were both pretty good and pretty much the same thing, one was just kids size. We recommend getting the braised pork for lunch. We also enjoyed the cupcakes, the grey stuff on it was delicious!

After we ate we went to check out the Rose Gallery room which has the dancing statue of Belle and Beast and also went back to see more of the West Wing room.  It was a little awkward walking around checking out the rooms while people where eating. We tried to do it as quickly as possible so as to not to annoy people.

Overall our experience at Be Our Guest was just ok.  With the challenges of  being able to book a reservation we assumed that the overall experience would be a memorable one. The castle itself is beautiful and you will really feel like you were transported in the ballroom scene of the movie. The food however was just average. It’s the experience that you go for and not the food.  If you really want to try this restaurant on your next visit to the Magic Kingdom, make sure to try to get reservations as soon as you purchase your ticket. The Disney app lets you make dinning reservations 180 days before your visit.  You’ll need to you use a credit card to guarantee your reservations, and there is a $10 per person no-show fee if you don’t show up.  If you couldn’t reservations the first time you do it, keep trying. Sometimes it’s best to try a couple of weeks before your trip since people tend to cancel.  We keep hearing that breakfast is not that good, so go for lunch (which we did) to get more out of your money.  Make sure you pre-order your meals online if you are going for breakfast or lunch. This will save you from waiting on line and makes the dining process easy.  Go for dinner if you really want to meet the Beast since it’s the only time he is at the castle and  it is the only place in Disney World where you can meet him. If you are on the Disney Dining Plan, Be Our Guest accepts quick service credit for breakfast and lunch and a table service credit for dinner. We might try Be Our Guest Restaurant for dinner the next time we visit Disney World.  Hope we score a reservation!

Happy Eating!
